Tom retired from National Bank Holdings Corporation (NBHC) in 2015 as its Chief of Integration & Enterprise Technology, President of Bank Midwest. He currently serves as Vice Chairman Emeritus and a consultant for Bank Midwest. Tom was of the four co-founders NBHC. As Chief Risk Officer for NBHC, Tom leveraged his expertise in regulatory requirements to help navigate the highly complex regulatory approval process with the FDIC, Federal Reserve, and the OCC. The organization has grown to a $5 billion, publicly traded company with 97 banking locations in three states.

Prior to founding NBHC, Tom was Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of the $160 billion asset company, Citizen’s Financial Group, which was owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Prior to the CRO role, he served as Chairman, President and CEO of a Citizen’s Financial Group bank in New Hampshire.

From 1981 – 2002, Tom served in numerous leadership roles with Mercantile Bancorporation and US Bank, including Chief Credit Officer, Regional Bank Coordinator, and Bank Chairman & CEO.

Early in his career, Tom was a National Bank Examiner at the OCC and began his career in banking as a Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Business & Accounting courses at Benedictine College. He has completed both post-graduate and graduate programs at the Prochnow Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition, he was elected and completed the Royal Bank of Scotland Executive Leadership Program developed by Harvard and Duke Universities.
